The Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Greening and Urban Appearance released the "One River, One River" Park version of the urban stroll guide today. After Shanghai accelerates the adjustment of the layout of riverbank functions and fully implements the renovation and upgrading of waterfront public spaces, what are the new destinations and highlights?
Minhang section
South Bund Park
In 2022, the South Bund Park will launch landscape improvement and renovation. The renovated South Bund Park connects four scenic areas, including Long Winds and Waves, Tidal Waves, Nanpu Returning Sails, and Historical Relics, fully showcasing the historical and cultural heritage of "Old Minhang".
Pujiang Country Park
Located in the south to west corner of the Huangpu River, it has a 5.3 kilometer waterfront. With the completion and opening of the three bridges of Fengshou River, Yaojiabang, and Lianqun River, the riverside shoreline of this section has been fully connected, and citizens and tourists can stroll from Shenzhuangtang to Yantie Pond.
Pudong section
◉ East Bank Riverside
From Yangpu Bridge to Xupu Bridge, the 22 kilometer shoreline of Pudong Binjiang has been connected, and Pudong is the area with the longest shoreline connected by the river. From the romantic reed marshes in the Qiantan, Houtan, and World Expo Cultural Park, to the skyscrapers on Lujiazui Binjiang Avenue, and then to the industrial relics of Shanghai Shipyard and Minsheng Wharf silos, fully showcasing the integration of nature and culture, history and modernity.
Huangpu section
◉ Jiuzi Park
The Huangpu section on the south bank of Suzhou River, with a shoreline of about 3 kilometers, was the "entrance hall" of Shanghai as early as 200 years ago. The Jiuzi Park, located at the westernmost point adjacent to Chengdu Road and Bridge, is the largest public green space on this coastline. After the park wall is opened, it integrates with the riverside space, cleverly integrating urban life and natural leisure into the high-quality Su River landscape.
Changning section
◉ Sky Skateboarding Park
The park is located on the west side of the Suzhou River landscape, with a total area of 24361 square meters. It is a skateboarding themed waterfront space on the Suzhou River, divided into special skateboarding area, leisure park area, landscape bridge, sparse forest and grass slope area, and other areas.
◉ Zhongshan Park
It is one of the few century old parks in Shanghai and also the oldest park with the most complete original landscape style. After the demolition of the wall, there was more ample space for vehicles and slow traffic, and the originally narrow Wanhangdu Road was much wider. In the park, a tree lined avenue measuring about 700 meters connects two meticulously crafted squares. The largest hanging tree, copper roof, music platform, and other famous landscapes hidden deep in the park in the East China region are presented to the public in full view.
Jing'an section
◉ Butterfly Bay Green Space
The green space covers an area of approximately 15000 square meters and is an artistic urban waterfront new landscape. Along the side of the road, there is a drop water landscape pool built on the Green Square. The pool extends northward with two curved art walls, cleverly concealing the ground facilities of the drainage pump station. Along the Suzhou River, there are hydrophilic platforms and corridors.
Xuhui section
◉ Oil Tank Art Park
Integrating various exhibition spaces, squares, gardens, and green spaces, it is a vibrant artistic and cultural landscape that provides the public with a space to get close to contemporary art and nature.
◉ Skateboard Square Park
The popular landmark of Xuhui Riverside Open Space. Skateboarding pools provide a space for young people to unleash their enthusiasm and creativity, making them a popular venue for sports events and a great place for parent-child interaction.
Putuo section
◉ Half Masu River Park
With an area of 350000 square meters, it is the largest waterfront space along the Suzhou River. It includes facilities such as the Suzhou River Industrial Civilization Exhibition Hall, a yacht dock, a shore bar chair, a waterfront square, tree pond benches, a children's playground, as well as various sculptures and half road markings.
◉ Changfeng Park
Covering an area of 364000 square meters, including 143000 square meters of water body, it is a large-scale comprehensive landscape park in Shanghai.
◉ Suzhou River Dream Clear Garden Environmental Protection Theme Park
It is a park that integrates green landscapes, exhibitions, popular science education, public services, and urban infrastructure. The park faces water on three sides and was once one of the areas with the most severe pollution in Suzhou River. 754 households were relocated and 18 factories, including Shanghai Brewery, were relocated. With an investment of 510 million yuan, it was completed in 2004. "Dream clear" means "making Suzhou River clear".
