Walking into a 3D studio resembling an octopus, with a wave of your hand, you can travel to the 1921 Shanghai Old North Station platform to take photos as a souvenir; Picking up the iPad and aiming it at the C919 aircraft model, the instructor leapt onto the wings and recounted the past and present of China's first domestically produced large aircraft; Wearing VR glasses, I instantly immerse myself in the electrical control room of Yangshupu Power Plant, as if reaching out to touch the electricity meters engraved with historical imprints
At the 2023 Shanghai Industrial Tourism Theme Day event held today, a series of new industrial tourism experiences were unveiled, showcasing the new highlights of "Made in Shanghai" that citizens and tourists can visit, appreciate, and perceive. At the same time, the release of 10 major themes and 39 in-depth experience routes for industrial tourism covering the 16 districts of Shanghai further enriches the connotation of industrial tourism in Shanghai.
Experience the charm of Made in China at the industrial tourism base
"Do you know how big the largest ship made in China is? It can reach a length of nearly 400 meters, which is equivalent to the length of a Jinmao Building horizontally, but its width is also larger than Jinmao Building. On Changxing Island, you will be able to see such a giant ship with your own eyes and feel the shock of Made in China." Today's Shanghai Industrial Tourism Theme Day sharing session, Sun Jialei, the general manager of a media company under Jiangnan Shipbuilding, described the industrial tourism scene, which caused admiration.
In November last year, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism launched a list of national industrial tourism demonstration bases, including Shanghai's Jiangnan Shipbuilding Industry Tourism Base and Su River Waterfront Industrial Tourism Base. This summer, Jiangnan Shipbuilding launched over 20 aircraft model production experience classes that were very popular and almost sold out. Sun Jialei said, "In addition to allowing citizens and tourists to experience the treasures of the country, we also hope to pass on the craftsmanship made in China to the next generation, planting a seed of longing in their hearts."
The Jiangnan Shipbuilding Industry Tourism Base is a microcosm of the development of industrial tourism in Shanghai in recent years. As the birthplace of modern Chinese industry, the birthplace of brands, and the gathering place of modern industry, Shanghai has a profound industrial historical context. Nowadays, Shanghai, which is in an important stage of transitioning from industrial civilization to information civilization, has a group of leading enterprises in emerging industries and scientific and technological fields. These achievements of industrial civilization are not only worthy of protection, but also need to lead the public to deeply perceive them.
At the on-site meeting, representatives of industrial tourism enterprises from Jiangnan Shipbuilding, Su River Waterfront, Chengtou Old Port Base, and Printing Group Yingfang Culture Company introduced their respective industrial tourism characteristics and expanded their theme research and learning. They also led the audience to experience the industrial tourism IP show on site, showcasing their characteristics comprehensively through text, pictures, videos, and on-site performances.
Let industrial tourism enter thousands of households
Shanghai has over 290 industrial relics, many of which are developed through industrial integration, creative industry parks, public recreational spaces, and industrial heritage revitalization. People can experience the rich heritage of "Made in Shanghai" up close.
At the end of last year, the theme of "My Industrial Travel Traces" was launched, and nearly a hundred precious historical photos, images, and video materials were sent by citizens and tourists. A group of participants walked into more than 40 industrial relics in Shanghai, searching for original maps of the era. Through a series of experiences such as reminiscing, searching, observing, researching, and comparing, they experienced a wonderful journey of industrial civilization and industrial aesthetics. On this theme day, the organizer selected 80 works to be presented. These photos and images bear witness to the century long history of the birthplace of modern Chinese industry, and also record people's exploration and attempts to integrate industrial civilization into urban renewal.
In the past two years, facing the continuously enriched and revitalized industrial tourism resources in Shanghai, major tourism enterprises have designed a number of operational and scalable industrial tourism products with elements such as science popularization and learning, surrounding recreation, parent-child interaction, and digital empowerment. At the event, multiple industrial units signed a "Deep Experience Theme Route Co construction Agreement" with Spring and Autumn Tourism, Shanghai Airlines Holiday, Jinjiang Tourism, and Jiushi Tourism. Industrial and tourism enterprises will work together to promote the high-quality construction of industrial tourism routes through diversified resource integration. 10 themes and 39 planned routes for the 2023 Shanghai industrial tourism in-depth experience from 16 districts in the city have been simultaneously released, striving to bring industrial tourism into thousands of households.
Up to now, Shanghai has formed five types of industrial tourism forms, including industrial tourism enterprises, urban industrial relics, industrial science popularization bases, cultural and creative parks, and industrial museums, involving more than 30 major categories of manufacturing industry. In order to better tap into these industrial tourism resources, the Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism, in conjunction with the Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology and other ten departments, issued the "Implementation Opinions on the Development of Industrial Tourism in Shanghai" last year, clarifying the need to increase the opening up of industrial enterprises, further promote the "Shanghai Tourism" brand, and focus on building a demonstration city for China's industrial tourism. Next, relevant parties will increase their efforts to promote more high-quality industrial tourism themed routes to the public, further promoting the inheritance and innovation of industrial civilization.
