Zelensky responds to Putin
According to a report on the Russian Kommersant website on May 25, Ukrainian President Zelensky announced that he would not consider the possibility of reaching a ceasefire agreement with Russia. In his opinion, the Russian army may take the opportunity to consolidate its position.
According to the report, Zelensky believes that such an agreement will only make sense unless the troops of both sides remain within the national borders. "The ceasefire now... is very, very dangerous for us," he said in an interview with media in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. Kazakhstan's Akoda news agency released a video of the interview.
He also said comments about the legitimacy of his presidency were meaningless and that he wasn't too worried about it.
The report mentioned that Russian President Vladimir Putin said on the 24th that Zelensky’s legitimacy as president of Ukraine has ended.
Zelensky commented on this: "Ukrainians are familiar with their country's constitution and understand the law. Such views on the legitimacy of the Ukrainian president... do not disturb me deeply at all."
Earlier, according to Russian media reports, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that it is necessary to resume peace negotiations with Ukraine, but they should be based on sound and rational principles and can be based on the agreement that has been reached. Putin said: "What we are witnessing now is that the topic of resuming negotiations has been revived. Let's talk, but it cannot be done as one party wants. The premise is that it must be based on the fundamental consensus reached during the negotiations between Belarus and Turkey. And it cannot be separated from the current reality on the ground.”
