On August 30th, the website of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Supervisory Commission released three consecutive messages, reporting the disciplinary actions of three central management cadres.

Jiang Zhigang, former deputy secretary of the Party Committee of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region and former secretary of the Yinchuan Municipal Party Committee, Cui Maohu, former deputy minister of the Central United Front Work Department and former director of the State Administration of Religious Affairs, has been expelled from the Party and public office, and Zheng Hong, former deputy director of the Standing Committee of the Chongqing Municipal People's Congress, has been expelled from the Party. These three people fell off their horses consecutively on March 16th, 17th, and 18th of this year.

From the report of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, it can be seen that Cui Maohu has "all five poisons" - seriously violating the Party's political discipline, organizational discipline, integrity discipline, work discipline, and life discipline. Their disciplinary and illegal behaviors include:

Losing ideals and beliefs, abandoning original aspirations and missions, lacking political consciousness, not resolutely implementing the decisions and deployments of the Party Central Committee, illegally occupying farmland to carry out political performance projects, failing to fulfill the main responsibility of comprehensively and strictly governing the Party, and deliberately resisting organizational review;

Dingfeng violates the spirit of the central eight point regulations, indulges in extravagance and pleasure, and accepts long-term arrangements for banquets, tourism, and other activities that may affect the fair execution of official duties;

Not reporting personal matters in accordance with regulations, not truthfully explaining issues during organizational conversations, and illegally selecting and appointing cadres;

Violating regulations by accepting gifts and gifts, indulging and tacitly allowing relatives and other specific relationships to use their position to influence and coordinate the contracting of business profits, and engaging in power and money transactions;

Violation of regulations and interference in judicial activities;

Without any disciplinary bottom line, taking advantage of one's position to seek benefits for others in engineering contracting, cadre appointment, etc., and illegally accepting huge amounts of property.

Cui Maohu was born in December 1965 in Xuanwei, Yunnan. He worked in Yunnan Province in his early years. After graduating from the Philosophy major of the Department of Political Science at Yunnan University in 1987, he entered Qujing School of Finance and Trade as a teacher. Two years later, he became the Deputy Township Head of Delu Township in Xuanwei County. In 1992, he became the Deputy Director and Staff Member of the Organization Department of Qujing District Committee. Two years later, he was promoted to the Organization Department of Yunnan Provincial Committee. Within 13 years, he was promoted from Deputy Director and Staff Member of the Research Office to Deputy Director of the Organization Department, and later also served as the Director of the Provincial Department of Human Resources and Social Security.

In 2017, Cui Maohu was appointed as the Secretary of the Lijiang Municipal Party Committee. During his tenure, he stated that rectifying the order of the tourism market, promoting tourism transformation and upgrading, and fighting poverty alleviation are the two most important and urgent tasks facing Lijiang. "We need to maintain the image of the Lijiang brand, and we must not let the Lijiang brand be destroyed in our hands.". In response to CCTV's exposure of the issue of "brushing orders at guesthouses", he once said that he welcomes the supervision of the media and various sectors of society, and cannot avoid or protect the shortcomings of existing problems. He must be highly vigilant, reflect seriously, and make a great determination to "squeeze pus" and "cut cancer".

In May 2021, Cui Maohu was promoted to Vice Governor and six months later became a member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, serving as the Secretary General of the Provincial Party Committee. In June last year, Cui Maohu left Yunnan Province, where he had been working for 35 years, and was appointed as the Deputy Minister of the United Front Work Department of the Central Committee. He also served as the Director of the State Administration of Religious Affairs. In September, he became the third president of the Chinese Religious and Cultural Exchange Association until he was investigated.

During his tenure in Yunnan, Cui Maohu had interactions with multiple tigers. In recent years, several high-ranking officials in Yunnan Province have been demoted, including Bai Enpei and Qin Guangrong, who previously served as provincial party secretaries, and Qiu He, who previously served as deputy party secretaries. In addition, Zhang Tianxin, who had previously served as the Minister of Propaganda of the Provincial Party Committee, was expelled from the Party in 2014 and demoted to the deputy department level. Cao Jianfang, who had previously served as the Secretary General of the Provincial Party Committee, was expelled from the Party in 2015 and demoted to a non leadership position at the deputy department level. In 2019, his retirement benefits were cancelled and he was transferred to the prosecution for review and prosecution. Huang Yi, former vice chairman of the Yunnan Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, who fell from power in March last year, also served as a member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Minister of the United Front Work Department from 2006 to 2016.
