Scam nearly 20000 yuan! A ride hailing driver in Shanghai has been arrested, and in 17 days, 8 buses collided with each other for ride hailing | Bus | Shanghai
The reporter learned from the Jing'an Branch of the Shanghai Public Security Bureau that a recent case of porcelain collision fraud has been solved: a ride hailing driver who specially accelerated to cause a bus full responsibility accident while the bus was merging, demanded that the bus driver "privately" compensate. In just 17 days, this ride hailing driver accidentally damaged 8 buses and obtained compensation of nearly 20000 yuan.
On April 28th of this year, bus driver Mr. Xia reported to the Criminal Investigation Detachment of Jing'an Public Security Bureau: the day before noon, he was driving a bus at the Chang'an Road Station on Hengfeng Road and changing lanes to exit the station. He collided with a ride hailing car that suddenly drove out from the left rear side. After getting intimate with the other party, Mr. Xia discovered in the bus work group that several colleagues had collided with this ride hailing car that month, and "everyone suspected that this car deliberately hit porcelain.".
The Jing'an police immediately launched an investigation. The situation reported by several bus drivers who have had an accident with the ride hailing service is similar to that of Mr. Xia, who was hit by a vehicle suddenly accelerating from behind while driving the bus to change lanes and leave the station. At first glance, the responsibility for the accident is clear, and bus drivers can only take responsibility.
Mr. Xia is an experienced driver with decades of driving experience. At the beginning, he requested the insurance company to assess the damage and called the traffic police to handle it on site. However, the other party urged him to do business as soon as possible. In addition, the other party knew that the car damage was serious, but the "asking price" was reasonable. Mr. Xia agreed to "privately" with the other party and paid 950 yuan on the spot. However, some inexperienced drivers were "knocked out" by the other party.
"I saw through the rearview mirror that the ride hailing service had slowed down, thinking he was trying to give way and then changed lanes with peace of mind. Unexpectedly, he collided the next second," another bus driver told the police. Due to concerns about the company's assessment, he voluntarily chose to "privately" with the other party. The other party demanded that the bus driver pay nearly 6000 yuan on the spot, citing serious damage to the vehicle's bumper and headlights. At that time, I thought I could only admit that I was unlucky. After the accident, the bus driver even paid for the repairs to avoid being noticed by the company.
Based on public video analysis of multiple "accidents" at the scene, the Jing'an police quickly identified the true identity and daily life patterns of the ride hailing driver Ren. On May 4th at noon, Ren was arrested at the New Siping Highway toll station in Fengxian District on suspicion of "hitting porcelain".
According to the investigation, the suspect Ren has committed fraud on eight "porcelain touch" buses in Jing'an, Xuhui, Hongkou, Yangpu and other districts from April 11 to April 27 this year in 17 days, with a total amount of nearly 20000 yuan involved. The police also found that the front bumper and right side of the vehicle used by Ren for the crime were already heavily damaged. Ren explained that the more severe the damage to the car, the more likely it is to charge a high price during the "collision" process, so he deliberately did not inspect it to deceive more compensation.
In June this year, the suspect Ren was arrested with the approval of the People's Procuratorate of Jing'an District on suspicion of fraud.
