In the first half of the year, Shanghai seized more than 21000 cases of traffic violations involving such vehicles, as well as multiple pedestrian crossings involving tourist buses and inter provincial buses
Yesterday morning, the Office of the Municipal Road Traffic Safety Professional Committee organized a road traffic safety warning meeting for the city's "two passengers and one danger" key transportation industry. The reporter learned from the meeting that the overall traffic safety situation in the city has been stable and controllable since the beginning of this year, with a 16% decrease in the number of deaths from traffic accidents compared to 2019. However, various types of traffic accidents and deaths from key transportation vehicles such as "two passengers and one danger" have still increased, with year-on-year increases of 66.7% and 28.6%, respectively. In terms of traffic violations, in the first half of the year, more than 21000 key vehicles with two passengers and one danger were seized in the city, with an average violation rate of 0.86 per vehicle. Drivers of tourist buses and inter provincial buses are prone to frequent traffic violations.
On August 27th last year, the driver of a large ordinary bus under Shanghai Longze Automobile Service Co., Ltd. drove the vehicle to the pedestrian crossing at the intersection of Yingkou Road and Guoshun East Road after drinking alcohol, and collided with pedestrians passing through the pedestrian crossing, resulting in one death and one injury; On June 6th this year, a large ordinary bus under the name of Shanghai Mengyang Passenger Transport Co., Ltd. drove to a pedestrian crossing about 100 meters east of Lingshi Road and Shanghai Tai Road without traffic signal control. Due to failure to avoid pedestrians, one pedestrian walking at the pedestrian crossing was hit and died after being sent to the hospital for rescue.
Based on the analysis of the causes of these accidents and daily law enforcement inspections by relevant departments, some actual controllers of passenger transport enterprises have neglected the daily management and traffic safety education of drivers, resulting in some drivers having weak traffic safety awareness. In response to this, the public security and traffic police, traffic law enforcement, and industry regulatory departments have continuously increased their efforts in source management and punishment. Recently, more than 651 key transportation enterprises have been inspected on site, and 231 hidden danger rectification suggestions have been issued. 170 enterprises that have not implemented their main responsibility have been fined and 106 have been ordered to rectify within a specified period of time.
