In recent years, there have been frequent occurrences of online rumors, online violence, and online hackers. The reporter learned from the Shanghai Public Security Bureau that since the launch of the "Summer Action", the police have investigated more than 1400 cases of online crimes, conducted security supervision and inspection on more than 40000 Internet websites registered in Shanghai, directed the online platform to clean up more than 108000 pieces of online illegal and harmful information, such as pornography, gambling, suspected fraud and diversion, and closed more than 3600 illegal accounts, such as publishing harmful information and fabricating rumors.
The Shanghai police have always been committed to safeguarding the civilization of cyberspace and cracking down on illegal and criminal activities that undermine cyberspace civilization, such as malicious online hype, online violence, and spreading rumors and causing trouble, in accordance with the law. In particular, they maintain a "zero tolerance" attitude towards online rumors that seriously disrupt cyberspace order. Since the operation, a total of 258 rumor mongers have been investigated and dealt with, and the platform has been guided to shut down more than 460 illegal accounts. Among them, two cases of fabricating online rumors, namely "a female teacher in a kindergarten in Shanghai is suspected of prostitution" and "indiscriminate killing at a subway station in Shanghai", were discovered and investigated, and were selected as typical cases for the Ministry of Public Security to crack down on and rectify online rumors.
At the same time, the police actively organized major Internet enterprises in Shanghai, such as webcast, audio and video, to launch a series of joint initiatives, such as the "Proposal for Actively Maintaining the Network Order of Flood Control and Disaster Relief", and launched the "Proposal for Rejecting Internet Rumors and Clearing the Network Environment" in conjunction with more than 100 major Internet enterprise platforms in the city, such as "Himalaya" and "Oriental Fortune", calling on the network information content service platform and network information content producers to jointly maintain good network order.
