Medical and industrial cross disciplinary independent research and development new technology debut: Shanghai's first 5G+AI ultra remote domestic robot minimally invasive completion | Robot | Domestic
The intersection of medical and industrial fields has made new breakthroughs in the field of gynecological treatment: Fudan University Affiliated Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital completed Shanghai's first 5G+AI ultra remote domestic robot minimally invasive surgery on the 25th. Professor Hua Keqin of the hospital used ultra remote technology to perform laparoscopic surgery on Ningxia women with multiple uterine fibroids and anemia from 2000 kilometers away. This is also the first domestically produced robot assisted 5G+AI ultra remote gynecological laparoscopic surgery in East China. Clinical and enterprise cooperation to break through technology will better meet the health needs of patients and promote the expansion and sinking of high-quality medical resources in China.
Patient Aunt Wang discovered uterine fibroids during a physical examination 8 years ago, and her condition continued to change. She was diagnosed with multiple uterine fibroids combined with anemia and required a total hysterectomy. Ningxia has limited local high-quality medical resources and has been cooperating with Shanghai for nearly a decade. After discussion, the two sides have decided to use the "Robot 5G+AI Ultra Remote Surgery Plan" to relieve patients' pain and avoid commuting between doctors and patients.
On the 25th, Professor Hua Keqin started operating on the robot platform with high-definition field of view assistance. The robotic arm that received instructions transmitted data in real-time to thousands of miles away, remotely completing various surgical operations such as dissection, separation, cutting, and suturing. Medical staff from Shanghai and Ningxia connected in real-time through "zero lag" to discuss plans and adjust instruments. The entire surgery lasted for 2 hours, and the operation was efficient, smooth, and accurate.

It is reported that the domestically produced robot used in surgery is Tumai, independently developed by Shanghai Minimally Invasive Company ® Endoscopic surgical robot. The Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital participated in the research and development process of this domestically produced robot system for clinical application in gynecology. Experts explain that with the support of a major project by the Municipal Science and Technology Commission, this four arm laparoscopic robot, which is the first in China to use 5G+AI technology to achieve ultra remote surgery, has broken through technological barriers in core software and hardware and achieved self-developed and self-produced capabilities. Professor Hua Keqin's team participated in the research and development process of fine operation actions such as robot size and volume, cutting and hemostasis, providing a systematic and intuitive evaluation of operations in the field of gynecology.
Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital is one of the earliest hospitals in China to introduce robots, and has completed nearly a thousand robot assisted gynecological surgeries, including many difficult and complicated cases. Dean Jiang Hua stated that the hospital continues to explore innovative smart healthcare through information technology construction and the application of 5G+AI technology. Previously, the first 5G one-stop birth defect prevention and control platform in China has been launched. This upgrade has achieved a technological breakthrough, in order to assist more patients in need and play a more "red house" role in the construction of national regional medical centers.
