Adhering to the principle of world-class medical schools with Chinese characteristics, and answering the "questions of the times" related to the future development of medical schools, Fudan University Shanghai Medical College has recently extended its "cutting questions and thinking" research in theme education, focusing on the implementation of the "four linkage" work mechanism of joint learning, joint research, joint rectification, and joint development, and comprehensively and systematically searching for solutions to the "questions of the times".

The theme education breaks down "cutting questions and approaching thoughts" into "eight medical questions", specifically: how to solve the "Qian Xuesen's question" of cultivating top innovative medical talents? How to climb the top of Mount Everest in the construction of first-class medical disciplines? How to answer the "fruit tree thinking" of high-quality development in medical basic research? How to find the "nuclear explosion point" strategy to enhance the energy level of medical and health innovation? How to embark on the "North Slope Road" of attracting world-class medical talents? How to initiate the "double peak trend" of integrating medical and health services into Shanghai? How to make the campus a "heartwarming place" for teachers, students, and employees? How to draw the "integration path" between party building, ideological and political education, and medical development? Fudan Shangyi Hospital has led the formation of multiple specialized research groups to lead and solve problems. As of now, each research group has conducted more than 110 surveys, compiled 11 problem lists, sorted out the problems found in the surveys one by one, and formed research reports and problem lists to achieve high-quality answers.

Qian Xuesen's Question: How to Cultivate Top Innovative Medical Talents

The Fudan Shanghai Medical Education Talent Training Research Group conducted multiple rounds of discussions and consulted expert think tanks. The special research team conducted multiple rounds of collaborative research, visiting the Medical Department of Peking University and the Medical College of Zhejiang University. Taking advantage of the visiting opportunities of Peking Union Medical College, Naval Medical University, and Tongji Medical College of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, the team fully investigated the talent cultivation situation of sister colleges and held four special research meetings on campus, comprehensively listening to the opinions and suggestions of teaching management experts, teaching deans, education departments of affiliated hospitals, academic and engineering departments, and representatives of teachers and students. Based on this, the eight year clinical medicine training program of the Medical College was improved and revised.

At the theme survey meeting, Wen Yumei, an academician of the CAE Member and a professor of Shanghai Medical College of Fudan University, offered advice and suggestions for the training of medical talents: modern medicine is multifaceted, and the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of diseases are integrated. Starting from this demand, medical education may need to undergo a certain degree of reform. Gui Yonghao, former dean of Shanghai Medical College at Fudan University, believes that in order to cultivate innovative students, it is first necessary to have innovative teachers, fully tap into the inherent potential of teachers, and build a group of high-quality and innovative teaching staff who truly love clinical medical education. Wang Ling, Dean of Keqing College at Fudan University, focuses on comparing and analyzing the explorations and innovations of various sister universities in the comprehensive reform of clinical medical education, and proposes the construction and practice of the "Shanghai Medical Model".

The North Slope Road: How to Form a First Class Medical Talent Introduction and Education Model

Talents are the primary resource. Yuan Zhenghong, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Fudan University and Secretary of the Party Committee of Shanghai Medical College, stated that the introduction of first-class talents not only directly affects the development potential of universities, but also relates to the development momentum of the country and cities. Adhering to the principle of strengthening schools with talents and building a reservoir of first-class talents, universities should strengthen their sense of responsibility, pay attention to both introduction and education, and strengthen the construction of talent teams through the establishment of hierarchical and classified management mechanisms. The special research group on cadres and talents opened the door to ask for advice, inviting relevant personnel from affiliated hospitals to discuss and exchange ideas, and seek true scriptures.

Tang Shuang, a young researcher at the Affiliated Cancer Hospital, proposed that hospitals and talents should achieve mutual success and pay attention to both talent introduction and education. Many young talents introduced are full of potential and passion. Colleges and universities should build good platforms, encourage the cultivation of versatile talents, help them grow into leading talents, and contribute to the construction of disciplines and the overall development of hospitals. Shu Yilai, a researcher at the Affiliated Eye, Ear, Nose and Throat Hospital, suggests that it is worth pondering how to provide adequate support after introducing talents. We should make good use of various policy resources, break the hierarchy based on seniority, establish a talent classification and education mechanism, provide supporting policies, and enable more outstanding young talents to continuously emerge.

It is reported that the affiliated tumor hospital has established a talent pool construction team, promoted talent pool construction, unified talent data caliber, integrated talent basic information, and explored strategic talent introduction evaluation standards and training strategies by collaborating with relevant departments and backbone forces. The affiliated pediatric hospital has brainstormed around the pain points and difficulties of talent introduction, and the hospital has deepened the reform of talent introduction mode by relying on the Talent Plan 3.0 version of the Tengfei Plan. Fudan Shangyi School of Public Health conducts a special study on the implementation plan of talent introduction through the college's party and government joint meeting, discusses the direction and key candidates of talent introduction, and forms a talent introduction plan and special research report.

Recently, Catherine, a British girl born in the 1990s, received autologous peripheral blood hematopoietic stem cell transfusion at the Cancer Center of Shanghai Jiahui International Hospital, and was successfully discharged from the warehouse. She is now on her way back to China after being discharged from the hospital. She is also the first patient at Shanghai Jiahui International Hospital to complete relevant treatments. In 2019, Catherine was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma in the UK, and after treatment, the disease completely improved. During her work and life in China in 2021, she went to seek medical attention due to multiple enlarged lymph nodes. Pathological biopsy confirmed a recurrence of Hodgkin's lymphoma, and through combined targeted drug treatment, her condition was temporarily under control. Last year in the second half of the year, when the disease recurred, the girl began to use immunotherapy combined with targeted drugs for treatment. Expert evaluation suggests that for young patients with hematological tumors, the risk of recurrence is high and treatment difficulty is increasing in the future. Autologous hematopoietic stem cell therapy is recommended
