State Administration of Market Regulation: Families or small workshops generally do not produce or sell fermented rice and noodles
In recent years, food poisoning events, even death, have occurred in some places due to the consumption of sour soup, wet Rice noodles and deteriorated agaric. After investigation, it was found that all of them were caused by the contamination of Pseudomonas coconutum subsp. oryzae, which produces deadly rice yeast acid. To help consumers understand and master relevant food safety knowledge, and avoid such food poisoning incidents, the following risk warnings are specially made.
The main toxic metabolite of Pseudomonas coconutum, the rice yeast acid, is a key factor causing food poisoning and even death.
Pseudomonas coconutum subsp. fermented rice noodles is a food poisoning bacterium discovered by Chinese scholars in 1977 in fermented rice noodles from Northeast China. It is a Gram negative bacterium. This bacterium can produce small molecule toxic metabolite - rice yeast acid under specific temperature and growth conditions. Rice yeast acid is thermally stable and cannot be destroyed even when boiled at 100 ℃ and cooked under high pressure. It is the main cause of food poisoning and death for diners. But after being exposed to ultraviolet and sunlight, the chemical structure of rice yeast acid can be destroyed, thereby reducing or losing its toxicity.
Fermented cereal products, spoiled fresh tremella, and spoiled potato products are the main foods that can easily lead to food poisoning caused by Pseudomonas coconuts.
Expert advice:
Families or small workshops generally do not make or sell fermented rice and noodles.
Fresh Tremella should be dried in a timely manner and the sale of fresh Tremella is prohibited.
Choose dried products such as Tremella and Auricularia through legitimate channels.
Timely handling and treatment of food poisoning personnel.
Temu sues SHEIN in the US, intensifying competition between the two major overseas retail giants
On July 18th, it was reported that Pinduoduo cross-border e-commerce platform Temu has filed a new lawsuit in the Boston Federal Court, accusing SHEIN of violating US antitrust laws. Temu stated in the indictment that as of 2022, SHEIN holds over 75% of the US ultrafast fashion market share. SHEIN uses market dominance to force clothing manufacturers to sign exclusive agreements and prevent them from cooperating with Temu. Temu stated that SHEIN's actions have led to price increases, reduced consumer choices, and "also hindered the expansion of the US ultrafast fashion market.".
The reporter contacted Temu and SHEIN regarding relevant information, but neither side responded to this matter. However, on Monday local time, a spokesperson for SHEIN responded to foreign media saying, "We believe that this lawsuit has no legal basis, and we will actively defend ourselves."
World Health Organization reports abnormal death of Polish cats
The World Health Organization reported on the 17th that some cats in Poland have been infected with avian influenza virus and have died. This is the first report to show a large number of cats infected with avian influenza in a country. According to information provided by the World Health Organization, relevant institutions in Poland reported to the organization on June 27th that their cats had experienced abnormal deaths. As of July 11th, among the 46 cats and 1 caracal cat sample tested, 29 samples tested positive for avian influenza A (H5N1) virus. Some cats experience severe symptoms, and in some cases, the condition can rapidly worsen or even lead to death. The gene sequencing results of viruses extracted from relevant animals showed that these viruses are similar to those that spread in wild birds. At present, the source of the virus infecting animals is unclear, and epidemiological investigations are currently underway.
