YOUNG Theater 2023 Autumn/Winter Performance Season Released, 31 Units with 93 Performances Linking World Works | Drama | YOUNG
On August 11th, YOUNG Theater released the 2023 Autumn/Winter Performance Season, featuring 93 performances from 31 TV stations from 6 countries, covering various forms such as drama, musicals, body dramas, and puppet dramas. The performance season will continue the three characteristic sections of "Theatre Evolution Theory", "Aerobic Innocence", and "Roaming Chinese Music", and launch a new "Autumn is an International Drama Season" brand, upgrading to the new year's "GOAT Special Youth Drama Exhibition".
"The Theory of Theater Evolution" focuses on the most original and dynamic new and mesozoic theater creators on the domestic performing arts stage, bringing the play "Master and Margaret" directed by Li Jianjun and adapted from the Russian novel of the same name, the award-winning work of Hong Kong director Deng Shurong and the all female Bansha play "King Lear" starring Ye Tong, and the concluding work of the drama series "Before the Court" by the Nine People Republic of China Intellectuals.
In the "Aerobic Innocence" section, "Not Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf", "Mole's Story", and "Forest Story" will form the French Animation Film Music Week to bring artistic enlightenment to Chinese babies; The bilingual music parent-child drama series "Rock School" and "Digimon" enrich children's childhood background.

As a collaboration series between YOUNG Theater and Shanghai Ethnic Orchestra, "Roaming YOUNG National Music" will be showcased at YOUNG Theater. The youth version of "Gardenia Blossoms", "Poetic Music Art", and Shanghai Ethnic Orchestra's New Year Concert will all be showcased at YOUNG Theater, and there will be more collisions with the Yangpu folk music region.
The first "Autumn is the International Drama Season" will kick off in October, with 8 TV shows featuring 24 performances from the UK, France, Germany, and New Zealand, including 1 world premiere, 1 Asian premiere, 3 Chinese premieres, and 2 Shanghai premieres. The opening performance of the original West End musical "The Last Five Years" is the representative work of three Tony Award winners, Jason Robert Brown, and is also one of the classic two person musicals. The modern opera "Nine Songs" participated in the 22nd Shanghai International Art Festival in China. Based on the Chu Ci "Nine Songs", it tells the story of ancient China in a multi national musical language that transcends time and space. The legendary theater troupe Berlin Theatre, founded by German theater master Brecht, made its debut in Shanghai for 125 years and brought the large-scale puppet drama "Brecht's Ghost".
The new works of Shanghai Venus Dance Troupe and Paris Branch, "Farewell Unexpectedly", the British Canine Dance Troupe winning the 2018 Top 10 British Dance Works "Juliet and Romeo", the British Re Theatre Troupe's musical body play "Laughter and Forget Book" that focuses on Alzheimer's disease, and the New Zealand treasure level modern dance troupe Java Dance Troupe's popular "delicacy theater series", "Cheese Waltz", "Cheese Moo Moo", etc. will also take turns to appear on stage.

The second GOAT Special Youth Drama Exhibition will open in September, featuring 6 cutting-edge theatrical works, 3 theatrical performances, 3 cross-border forums, and 2 theatrical appreciation and exchange activities within a month. It aims to create a comprehensive "drama festival" for young theater enthusiasts to share, exchange, and interact with each other. This year's drama exhibition has received 129 entries from 118 young artists, of which 6 cutting-edge works have been selected for the "Theatre on the Scene" exhibition unit, and 3 works will be presented to the audience in the form of theatrical performances. The Statue of a Woman Doing Household chores focuses on the coexistence of "exploitation" and "happiness" in household labor. Will the Rebirth of Oedipus Detect ENFJ? Takes the MBTI personality test as an entry point to explore why the symbolic, fragmented and labeled Internet trend has become a social necessity for contemporary young people. "Beautiful and Beautiful" explores the undefined "beauty". "The Diary of a Madman" is adapted from Gogol's short story of the same name, using multimedia imagery to play the role of an actor's partner and partner, questioning where the real world of daily life and bizarre imagination diverge. The Great Meal reflects the changing times by documenting the attitudes of people from different eras and backgrounds towards food. "Unforgettable Tonight" is a work about the night, and the creator attempts to summarize the most typical night in a sociological way. At the beginning of the new performance season, YOUNG Theater has launched the Green Box OPEN CALL to provide support for more young artists, encouraging diverse, innovative, and sustainable expressions. Green Box is a multifunctional experimental small theater located on the fourth floor of YOUNG Theater, with 168 movable seats. Over the past year, many outstanding youth drama works have been born here or premiered in Shanghai.
