The first 3-day Jing'an Youth Literature Summer Camp ended at the Jing'an District Children's Library by Butterfly Bay. 18 students from Minli Middle School, Shixi Middle School, Shangwai Jingzhong, Yucai Middle School, Private Yangbo Middle School, Shangxi Affiliated Middle School, Private Fengfan Middle School and other members of the Jing'an Writers Association successfully graduated.
The literature summer camp is jointly organized by the Jing'an Writers Association, Jing'an District Library, and Jing'an District Children's Library. Members of the Jing'an Writers Association's Presidium, Jian Ping, Yao Weiguo, and Pu Linhong, serve as the camp leaders. Through the form of "literature class+walking and gathering+discussion", they lead students to appreciate the charm of literature and the city, broaden their horizons and hearts, stimulate creative thinking, and exercise writing skills.
On the first day of the summer camp, two writers with different styles and generations, Zhao Lihong and Cai Jun, respectively, shared literature and reading with the students under the themes of "The Source of Writing" and "Suspense is a Story, It is also Life". On the second day, during the theme walk of "architecture can be read", cultural and historical research expert Wu Fei and architectural craftsman Xu Chaoyuan led students from Shaanxi North Road Historical and Cultural Street to Shanghai Mao Zedong's Old Residence Exhibition Hall, Zhangyuan, Jing'an Villa, Minli Middle School, and other places to understand the stories and cultural connotations behind the buildings, explore the depths of Jing'an's history and life, and explore urban memories. The students also visited Yu Mingfei, a hundred year old New Fourth Army soldier who lived in Jing'an Villa. Yu Mingfei, who had been a member of the Communist Party for 77 years, remained steadfast in his original intention and left a deep impression on the younger generation. On the last day, two symposiums were held at the Qiancai Bookstore on Changde Road and the Children's Library in Jing'an District. Huang Yuning, Deputy Editor in Chief of Shanghai Translation Publishing House, talked about "Chinese and foreign literature in my eyes" from the perspective of a translator, and shared briefly on "lighting up youth with literature.".
At the graduation ceremony, Qian Yuying from Shangxi Affiliated Middle School took the initiative to serve as the host, and the children shared their summer camp achievements. Jia Xiran of Minli Middle School said: "This summer camp is like a rainstorm, which washes the soul with the rain of words, and exchanges some ideas under the rainstorm of words." The works submitted by each student will be published in Jing'an magazine, Jing'an Writers Association WeChat official account, etc.
The Jing'an District Writers Association was established in May 2021. Over the past two years, it has established the Jing'an Lecture Hall, launched the Jing'an Magazine, selected the Jing'an Literature Award, organized literary gathering activities, and provided opportunities for literary writers, enthusiasts, and promoters to exchange and publish, and provided a writing platform for more people. The Jing'an Youth Literature Summer Camp is aimed at middle and high school students, hoping to sow the seeds of their love for literature, feel the power and courage brought by literature, and use literature to light up their youth.
