The Midsummer Night Drama Dream - Rural Drama Summer Camp Aesthetic Education Enhancement Plan has recently concluded in Chengdu. Frontline teachers and students from rural schools across the country receive training in the concepts and methods of drama education, planting seeds of drama one after another.
"I see children go from being reserved and shy at the beginning to gradually letting go of themselves, feeling their sincerity and love through drama education." Actor Wen Yang from Shanghai Drama Art Center shared his artistic experiences and life stories with 17 students. Through drama game exercises, students learned what drama is and experienced the process of drama rehearsal. "The children's performance surprised me, and the energy they displayed also gave me more confidence and courage. I hope that the art of drama can illuminate more children's lives."
Director Liu Shuchen of Shanghai Theatre Art Center led 15 teachers and students to experience the entire process of the birth of a drama. "We pass on the 'spark' of drama to these rural teachers, hoping that one day they can pass on the content learned in class to children in mountainous areas, so that the 'spark' of drama can also illuminate their lives, make them love, understand and benefit from it."
The teachers started from scratch and became students of the drama summer camp, with mixed emotions. Lin, a teacher from Yunnan, admitted, "I used to be so nervous that I couldn't even speak in public, and I couldn't speak with my breath. Through this learning, I benefited a lot." Wu, a teacher from Sichuan, said, "I came to Chengdu with a nervous heart. On the first day of class, I couldn't let go at all, and liked to wrap myself in intangible things. The teacher patiently guided me through games, and I gradually adapted, relaxed, and finally completely let go. Drama is a new field for me. Through this learning, I learned about the connection between drama and Chinese language teaching. In the future, if there is a chance, I will arrange textbooks for students." Teacher Ma, a student, also began to think about using drama elements in teaching. "Through this wonderful experience," Through my journey, I have gained a new understanding of drama. I have gone from being in a state that wraps around my emotions to daring to break through and try to express specific emotions in various scenes. I have also begun to think about creating dramatic situations in future Chinese language teaching to help students enhance their imagination
In the presentation of the results, the students of the student class concluded their theatrical journey with the play "The King's New Clothes" adapted from Danish fairy tales. The teacher class students are divided into two groups, each with the theme of "Twilight" and "Dawn", to create and perform original theatrical segments.
