Welcome the new force of Shanghai, the blind children summer camp initiated by Bai Yansong, Zhou Yunpeng, and others | Film Academy | Shanghai
On July 10th, the Film Academy of Shanghai Academy of Drama hosted a comprehensive performance of "Sound in Children's Hearts" accessible drama by professional teachers and students in the Joy Hall of the East Hall of Shanghai Library. Teachers and students have entered public welfare practice from the classroom, bringing a unique artistic experience to the 2023 "Little Tadpole Not Afraid of Black" Blind Children Summer Camp. The summer camp was jointly initiated by media figure Bai Yansong, blind musician Zhou Yunpeng, China Braille Publishing House, and China Braille Library, and has been held for five sessions so far.
The performance provides blind children with an open, inclusive, and accessible artistic and cultural experience. The teachers and students of Shanghai Theatre Academy have made a lot of innovation, optimization, and expansion on the basis of the existing accessible drama. Children can not only enjoy accessible drama and animation, but also experience accessible drama workshops. Before the performance, teachers and students carefully prepared "Happy Bear" plush dolls for each blind child, encouraging them to work hard and make positive progress.
The accessible drama section selects two plays, each telling the touching stories of martyr Li Zhentang who sacrificed himself in the Korean War and the era's model principal Zhang Guimei. It organically integrates "ideological and political" and "art" to make education more vivid. The accessible animation selected a clip from "Summer Watches with Bears", relying on the long-term experience of teachers and students in accessible film production at the Shanghai Film Academy. The students gave vivid explanations to the blind children, and the audience laughed and laughed. The accessible drama workshop invited four blind children to interact on stage, using music, sound language, and body language to train their sensitivity and imagination during the participation process.
The activity received unanimous praise from the organizers and participants of the "Little Tadpole Not Afraid of Black" blind children summer camp. Dong Jian, Vice Dean of the Film Academy of Shanghai Academy of Drama, said that students spontaneously use summer vacation for performance rehearsals, which is precisely the result of the school's continuous encouragement to students to enhance their sense of social responsibility. The innovative performance left a deep impression on Qu Dapeng, the head of the barrier free film commentary team at Shanghai Radio and Television Station. He said that Shanghai is a pioneer in accessible art services, and this event provides blind children from all over the country with the opportunity to enjoy high-quality art resources.
Anqing Special Education School teacher Lv Min believes that the performance fully reflects everyone's sense of social responsibility, and hopes that people from all walks of life, teachers, and students can continue public welfare activities. Blind children and parents are also deeply touched. One child expressed that they will also bring such an artistic experience to blind school students and visually impaired groups in the future. Parents express gratitude for their children's ability to obtain innovative artistic experiences.
