In industrial style buildings, the wooden bookshelves add warmth. On August 3rd, another public reading space in Baoshan District, the "Haoyao Science and Technology Innovation Center Shared Study" located on the 3rd floor of Shanghai Haoyao Science and Technology Innovation Building, was unveiled, and the "Encounter Children's Fun" 2023 Shanghai Book Fair Baoshan District Branch Event and Baoshan Reading Month kicked off.
In recent years, in order to better empower the construction of the main battlefield of the Science and Technology Innovation Center, Baoshan District has made efforts to deepen and improve the overall system of public libraries and branch libraries in the region. The newly opened Haoyao Science and Technology Innovation Center shared study is another innovative practice that uses social forces to assist grassroots public cultural facilities. The study covers an area of 520 square meters and has a collection of over 10000 books. It is equipped with digital resource reading equipment, self-service borrowing and returning equipment, and a special shelf for award-winning works of the Chen Bochui International Children's Literature Award has been set up.
After the unveiling ceremony, the first reading activity in the study immediately began. Chen Bochui, an award-winning author of the International Children's Literature Award, Zheng Chunhua, gave a speech on "Reading and Happiness", winning bursts of laughter and applause from the first batch of young readers on site. Li Jun, the director of Baoshan District Library, said, "In addition to dedicated shelves, the future study will also regularly hold reading activities, hoping to provide 'within reach' high-quality reading services for nearby residents, mall customers, white-collar workers in buildings, and more."
Throughout August, in conjunction with the "One District, One Feature" sub venue activities of the Shanghai Book Fair, Baoshan Library integrated local children's literature resources and cultural heritage of the Science and Technology Innovation City, and launched a series of themed activities such as "Encounter, Children's Fun" and Baoshan Reading Month. With children's reading as the main theme and Smart Bay as the main venue, the library plans to launch more than 40 series of reading activities in four major sections: "Enjoying Childhood", "Reading Children's Fun", "Lighting up Childlike Hearts", and "Building Childlike Innocence", including "Picture Book Mom" accompanying you for summer vacation, singing nursery rhyme music activities, trunk book culture market, "Flower Classroom" children's story meeting, Baotu Intangible Cultural Heritage handicrafts, etc., radiating to the entire region's science and technology innovation. Parks, community venues, public reading spaces, etc., allow citizens to reminisce about their childhood in a leisurely nursery rhyme, concentrate on finding childlike fun in the cultural city, feel the power of inheritance in intangible cultural heritage handicrafts, and showcase the regional reading characteristics of the whole population.
The city is shrouded in the fragrance of books, reading cultivates temperament, and scientific and technological innovation leads development. On the basis of continuing to play the role of public cultural services in public libraries, Baoshan District will continue to expand social forces to participate in public cultural services, innovate the urban cultural public service system, and empower the high-quality development of the city with the power of reading.
