On August 25, the 2023 Apprenticeship Ceremony of Shanghai Pingtan Troupe was held in the Yu Garden · Haihai Pear Garden. Nine young actors from Shanghai Pingtan Troupe and Jiangsu have joined the ranks of seven artists from Shanghai Pingtan Troupe and Suzhou Pingtan School, marking the start of the fourth round of the "Firework Plan" paired apprenticeship, which will help the inheritance and development of Pingtan art in the new era. This is the second collective apprenticeship ceremony held by the Shanghai Pingtan Troupe after three years. On September 10th, the Shanghai Pingtan Troupe will hold a special performance of "The Wind and Lotus of Qu Yuan Runs the Sound of Books - Teacher and Student Performance" at the Sea Pear Garden, where teachers and students will perform the unique charm of Jiangnan Quyi treasures on stage.
In November 2015, the Shanghai Pingtan Troupe launched the "Firework Plan", which aims to cultivate young actors through apprenticeship and pairing, strengthen genre construction, and concentrate on inheriting classic Pingtan books. Three large-scale collective apprenticeships within 5 years, resulting in the continuation of many lengthy storylines. The Pingtan Troupe has persisted in offering summer youth training and enhancing year-end business assessments for more than ten consecutive years, resulting in significant progress in ideological construction and artistic level among a group of young actors.
On August 25th, Huang Haihua, Wu Jinghui, Jiang Xiaobo, Gao Bowen, Wang Jin, Yuan Xiaoliang, and Wu Xinbo were welcomed as new disciples. Among them, Wang Jin and Yuan Xiaoliang come from Suzhou. Wang Jin, a national first-class performer, is the Deputy Director of the Teaching and Research Office of Suzhou Pingtan School. She studied under the renowned Pingtan master Jiang Yunxian and inherited Yao Yinmei's Yao style art. Yuan Xiaoliang, a national first-class performer, is the Vice Chairman of Jiangsu Quyi Association and Honorary Chairman of Suzhou Quyi Association. With solid basic skills and a relaxed and effortless stage performance style, they have become the only couple in the country to reach the peak of the Peony Performance Award.
Many teachers and students who took in apprenticeship and apprenticeship on the 25th have already had the reality of being teachers and students, but what is missing is only their reputation. Between teachers and students, not only should there be a clear path and a clear list of books, but there should also be a connection between teachers and students. Teachers are willing to teach, and students are also willing to learn. Most actors have gone through the adaptation stage: Gu Juntao and Li Jingfei, who studied under Jiang Xiaobo, have studied "Wusong" and "Changsheng Palace" with Jiang Xiaobo for two to three years. Hao Hua and Deng Jia have been studying the long storyline "Pearl Tower" with Gao Bowen since graduating from Suzhou Pingtan School. Wang Jin and Xie Yujia, a pair of apprentices, have also appeared on stage and been selected to perform "The Cause of Laughter". Although Bian Chen had not studied under his teacher before, he had been studying "Water Margin" with Wu Xinbo for many years and ranked among the top in the Shanghai Pingtan Troupe assessment in the past one or two years.
