This year marks the 100th anniversary of the birthdays of the three masters of Shanghai opera, Ding Shie, Yang Feifei, and Wang Pansheng. From August 26th to 29th, the newly established Shanghai Tianhao Qinyue Shanghai Opera Troupe teamed up with the Shanghai Shanghai Opera Academy Youth Troupe to perform the traditional classic Shanghai Opera play "Lu Yachen Sells His Wife" at the Yangtze River Theater. "Lu Yachen Selling His Wife" is a famous and representative play of the royal school. In 1987, well-known artists such as Ding Shi'e, Yang Feifei, Zhao Chunfang, and Shao Binsun joined and performed the Shanghai Opera Star Inheritance Edition of the play, which caused a sensation. The Shanghai Opera House has also performed the play multiple times. The performance from August 26th to 29th will be directed by Shu Yue, the artistic director of the Qinyue Shanghai Opera Troupe, as the rehearsal director. This is Shu Yue's second time directing the drama. In 2022, he was invited to rehearse "Lu Yachen Sells His Wife" for the Shanghai Opera House and perform it at the Wanping Theater and Tianchan Yifu Theater.
The 2013 Shanghai Opera House's young actors were the main contenders in the TV series "Lu Yachen Sells His Wife", both born in the 95s and 2000s. Wan Zitao, Li Bingru, and Xu Xiangxiang, the fourth generation successors of the Wang faction, respectively played the role of Lu Yachen. Wan Zitao, who played Lu Yachen in the first scene, is the youngest of all actors and was born in 2002. Li Bingru's performance of "Sighing at Five Nights" not only inherits the characteristics of the royal school, but also takes on the role of one person, presenting it in five different schools.

"Sighing at the Five Nights" is the most famous aria of "Lu Yachen Selling His Wife", sung by Wang Pansheng for 15 minutes. In 1996, when young actors from the Shanghai Shanghai Opera Theatre performed in the play, Shu Yue, as the direct descendant of Wang Pansheng, boldly innovated and adapted the singing sections based on the contemporary audience's appreciation habits. The five genres were presented in Spring, Wen, Shao, Jie, and Wang, and have been widely sung to this day.
