The 11th Maodun Literature Award Evaluation Office announced today the award-winning works of this year's Maodun Literature Award, including Yang Zhijun in "Snow Mountain and Earth", Qiao Ye in "Treasure Water", Liu Liangcheng in "Benba", Sun Ganlu in "Thousand Miles of Jiangshan", and Dongxi in "Echo".
The Mao Dun Literature Award, founded in 1981, is organized by the Chinese Writers Association and aims to encourage outstanding novel creation. It is one of the highest honor literary awards in China and is selected every four years. The participating works must be long novels with a word count of over 130000. Since 2011, the Mao Dun Literature Award has increased its prize money from 50000 yuan to 500000 yuan, becoming the highest prize money literary award in China. This year, a total of 239 works participated in the Mao Dun Literature Award.
The 10 nominated works announced on August 7th are "Echo" Dongxi, "Yanshi Ji" Ge Liang, "Yousheng" Hu Xuewen, "Benba" Liu Liangcheng, "Golden River" Lu Min, "Treasure Water" Qiao Ye, "Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains" Sun Ganlu, "Yanxia Li" Wei Wei, "Snow Mountain Land" Yang Zhijun, and "Faraway White Horse" Zhu Xiuhai.
On August 11th, the 11th Mao Dun Literature Award Evaluation Committee held its sixth round of voting, resulting in 5 award-winning works. The voting process is conducted under the supervision of the disciplinary supervision group and notarized by the Beijing Fangyuan Notary Office.
Among the five award-winning works, Sun Ganlu, a Shanghai writer, drew inspiration from the historical documents of the Party and the deeds of the martyrs. Writing a novel titled "A Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains" has been brewing in Sun Ganlu's mind for nearly 20 years. Specifically implemented in the secret transfer operation of the 1930s, whether it was walking through familiar streets that had been living for many years, or conducting extensive interviews at the Longhua Martyrs Memorial Hall, exchanging ideas and seeking advice from experts in party and urban history, the author made solid preparations for this.
