"Fenghuangtai explores the historical and cultural context and tells the audience a poetic story of Nanjing." Yang Qingjin, the head of the Nanjing Yue Opera Troupe, said that after "Wuyi Lane," the original team of the Nanjing Yue Opera Troupe once again collaborated with screenwriter Luo Zhou and director Weng Guosheng to create the second part of the "Jinling Trilogy", "Fenghuangtai.". The drama starts from Li Bai's "Ascending the Phoenix Terrace at Jinling" in Nanjing and tells his life story. Li Xiaoxu's first attempt at a role with such a large age span, from a graceful young man to a sagging old age. At the beginning, Li Bai and Meng Haoran embarked on a boat trip to Jinling upstream of the river, reciting poetry in opposition. Li Xiaoxu, dressed in a blue robe, rode on a boat, free and unrestrained. By the third scene of "Water Cut", Li Bai on stage had already acquired the taste of a middle-aged man who had experienced many things.
Nanjing Yueju Opera Troupe was formerly the Shanghai Yunhua Yueju Opera Troupe founded by Zhu Shuizhao, one of the "ten sisters of Yueju Opera". In 1954, Shanghai Yunhua Yue Opera Troupe landed in Nanjing. Under the care and cultivation of senior artists such as Zhu Shuizhao, Shang Fangchen, and Zhu Xiaozhao, the Nanjing Yue Opera Troupe is now flourishing. Li Xiaoxu entered Nanjing Theatre School at the age of 13 to study Yue Opera, and joined Nanjing Yue Opera Troupe at the age of 17. Li Xiaoxu recalled, "I couldn't tell clearly when I was with Teacher Bi during class and after class. Even if I was halfway through the meal, the teacher said, 'You sing a few lines, I'll listen, just sing a little, and then sing it wrong. The teacher said it should be sung like this, sing it again, and after studying for a year, the teacher finally agreed to accept me as a student.' Bi Chunfang loved the disciples he took in in his later years and said more than once, 'Xiaoxu's voice is like mine. He studies drama very hard and is very obedient.' Bi Chunfang also instructed Li Xiaoxu, 'One of the wet maids in Yue opera is Kunqu, and we should learn more martial arts from Beijing Kunqu.'" Xu thus became a cross disciplinary disciple of the famous Kunqu opera master Shi Xiaomei.
On July 14, 2016, the "Spring Blossoms and Autumn Fruits Full of Fragrance" Yue Opera Bi School Art Special Performance was performed on the Tianchan Yifu Stage. Bi School disciples celebrated Bi Chunfang's 90th birthday together and sang a congratulatory song with the classic singing style of the famous Bi School drama "Three Laughs": "On stage, you are charming and charming, and off stage, you are humorous and kind. A person with a single character of love is not old, and their artistic character and character are respected. Today, peach and plum gather together to wish their mentor and art longevity." After a month, Bi Chunfang passed away on August 14, 2016. After 7 years, on August 14th, at the Tianchan Yifu Stage, Li Xiaoxu announced that he would report to Bi Chunfang in the sky with his colleagues from the Nanjing Yue Opera Troupe on "Phoenix Terrace" to commemorate the master.
