On September 1st, the "Encountering Wealth - People's Finance and People's Livelihood Development" historical literature exhibition was unveiled in the directory hall of the Huaihai Road Library of Shanghai Library. A 5-meter-long Shanghai century old financial hand-painted scroll, 1 to 5 sets of RMB complete sets, commonly known as the "Old Eight Stocks", the earliest listed and traded stocks and "subscription certificates" in the Shanghai securities market, various early credit cards, certificates of deposit and passbooks, old bank propaganda posters, financial historical materials and newspapers, etc., present visitors with the historical context of people's finance and people's livelihood development.

Since the establishment of the People's Republic of China, the development of Shanghai's financial industry has still been at the forefront of the country, leaving behind many precious historical documents, including early financial journals, newspapers, academic works, statistical data, as well as visual documents such as audio, video, calligraphy and painting, as well as various physical carriers such as bank certificates and cultural relics, telling the story of people and wealth meeting.

This exhibition is divided into four major parts, collecting nearly 300 historical materials and documents. Preface: "The World is bustling" Looking back on modern Shanghai, as the international financial center of the Far East, where various institutions such as banks, banks, ticket houses, and silver banks stand, intertwined with people's livelihood and wealth, interpreting the financial "masquerade ball" under the economic roof; The first part "Warming People's Hearts and Stabilizing People's Sentiments" mainly tells the story of how after the liberation of Shanghai, through a series of measures such as cracking down on speculation and stabilizing prices, the currency and prices were stabilized, and the people's lives were initially guaranteed. In the subsequent period of socialist construction, people's finance continued to serve national construction and people's livelihood improvement, insisting on serving the people; The second part "Enriching the People's Wealth and Benefiting the People" tells the story of how after the Third Plenary Session of the Eleventh Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, the pace of transformation in the financial industry has brought about vigorous vitality, which is more closely integrated with the accumulation process of wealth for people's livelihoods. New financial businesses have emerged like mushrooms after rain, making investment and wealth management channels for citizens increasingly diverse; The third part "Protecting People's Safety and Benefiting Livelihoods" tells the story of the new era in the past decade. The financial industry continues to adhere to political and people-oriented principles, with the starting point and foothold of continuously meeting the growing demand for high-quality financial services from the people. Entering the exhibition hall, the first thing that catches your eye is a five meter long hand drawn scroll of "The World is Busting: Shanghai's Centennial Finance". This work was created by Huang Yihai, the director of the Shanghai Bank Museum, and signed by the Shanghai style calligrapher and painter Dai Dunbang. It was exhibited for the first time in public. The work depicts the various forms of modern Shanghai's financial industry through the technique of white drawing. The screen contains more than 150 characters of various colors, with diverse appearances and expressions, including various financial professionals as well as ordinary citizens. It reproduces scenes of financial institutions such as banks, banks, pawns, domestic and foreign banks, insurance, securities trading, as well as important modern financial historical events such as the securities market, gold run, and anti silver speculation during the tea party era, resembling a century old financial "Qingming Riverside Map" of modern Shanghai. Huang Yihai introduced that he researched a large amount of financial imaging historical materials, which took more than two months to complete. It is also a tribute to He Youzhi, the master of the continuation comic book series, and he strives to tell the story of modern Shanghai's financial industry in the form of "picture telling".

In the exhibition hall, a collection of one to five sets of RMB presents the audience with a panoramic view of the history of currency changes in the hands of the people since the founding of New China. The first set of RMB has up to 60 different versions, which is rare to see; The second set of RMB has distinct characteristics of the era, and there is also a unique three yuan denomination in the RMB system; The third set of RMB is the first independently designed and printed set of RMB in New China, with the longest circulation time... Behind each set of currency, there is a close relationship between people's finance and people's livelihood wealth in different periods. In addition to paper currency, the exhibition also showcases over 100 bank cards from different periods, such as the first salary card that many Shanghainese once owned - Pujiang Card, and a wide variety of credit card varieties, showcasing the evolution of payment methods for ordinary people.

In one corner of the exhibition hall, there is a scene of a savings office of the People's Bank of China in the 1980s, with a strong nostalgic and retro style, which is very eye-catching. The savings office scene reproduces the early style of banks, displaying abacus, account pages, passbooks, and various office supplies used by the People's Bank of China back then. In addition to taking photos and checking in when entering the scene, visitors can also receive a vintage passbook style "Encounter Wealth" exhibition visit fold on site, and stamp it as a souvenir.

Shanghai Library has meticulously collected more than 50 pieces of financial historical materials, covering representative financial works since the founding of New China, including historical materials such as Historical Materials of Shanghai Bankers and Historical Tales of Shanghai Finance, which reflect the development history of modern financial industry, as well as works reflecting Shanghai's banking, securities, insurance, investment and financing during the reform and opening up period, as well as the latest financial research achievements on green finance, Internet finance, inclusive finance, and the "meta universe" of finance in recent years.
