Public Prosecution Ends Today | Exclusive Interview with Dilraba: No Regrets in the Face of Any Character | TV Series | Characters

Release time:Apr 13, 2024 22:24 PM

The first TV drama in China, "Public Prosecution," adapted from real cases, with the theme of the prosecution's crackdown on new types of cybercrime, will conclude on the evening of June 20th. According to the professional version of Cat's Eye, the drama has consistently topped the weekly popularity charts for Cat's Eye crime and suspense TV dramas for several days.

In "Public Prosecution", the most important and unique character is undoubtedly Dilraba's portrayal of Anni, the prosecutor of the Jiangcheng Procuratorate. In the drama, An Ni is bold, meticulous, and kind-hearted, engaging in legal battles with criminals while adhering to the path of justice. In Dilraba's view, there are similarities between herself and Anni. "They both have a strong determination not to admit defeat. But my refusal to admit defeat only affects me personally; her refusal to admit defeat drives the progress of the case and also drives the people around her."

Recently, Dilraba gave an interview to a journalist from Liberation Daily's Shangguan News, telling the story of her gradual transformation into "An Ni".

Looking at the news: "Public Prosecution" focuses on a female prosecutor as the protagonist in its narrative, why does this theme attract you?

Dilraba: Actually, before receiving this script, I was not very familiar with the role positioning of prosecutors and the profession of prosecutors. A small amount of knowledge is obtained through some movies and TV dramas, but more characters such as lawyers and judges are seen. I read the script with a curious mindset, and the more I understand it, the more interested I become. As a TV drama about a female prosecutor, the character "Anni" symbolizes law and justice, and will bring a sense of power to the audience. When reading the script, I can feel the power and wisdom of Anni, as well as her persistence in doing what she likes and not being troubled by the voices around her. This kind of spirit really touched me, and I thought I had to give it a try.

Looking at the news: What kind of person is Prosecutor An Ni? How did you shape this character?

Public Prosecution Ends Today | Exclusive Interview with Dilraba: No Regrets in the Face of Any Character | TV Series | Characters

Dilraba: Anna is a down-to-earth, very resilient, courageous, and strategic female prosecutor. She is very intelligent and can give people a firm sense of strength. Of course, she will also encounter some setbacks and setbacks that most people in reality will encounter, and her attitude towards life brings me new insights and strength towards life.

Before starting up, everyone read the script together, and I also thought about the rationality of the context and expression of emotions in the script in advance, and talked to the director about the opportunities for details to occur. The portrayal of details in the script, the restoration of scenes, and the selection of real cases are all very rigorous. Before filming started, I bought some legal books on trial techniques and other related topics. Professional content is indeed quite difficult to read. I set goals for myself, immerse myself in the characters and script content to understand and experience, and at the same time, strengthen my line practice anytime and anywhere. The crew hired a real prosecutor sister to work with us on the plot. During the filming process, I occasionally asked her for advice, and now I have the same level of curiosity as when I was in school. I remember asking her before, sister, do you always maintain a state of thinking outside of work? She said that after work, she actually feels very relaxed, just like most girls. I suddenly understood that everyone has a life oriented side, and I hope to restore reality and present characters vividly and reasonably. I also have some small designs in my eyes, which make Anni's gaze at the prosecution bench look slightly stern but still so firm.

Looking at the news: Do you think "Anni" is similar to yourself?

Dilraba: Actually, every character of mine has similarities with me. I, like Anni, have a strong determination and won't give up. The feeling of not accepting defeat on Anni's body will be more obvious than mine, because my refusal to accept defeat actually only affects me personally; And Anni's sense of strength and refusal to accept defeat propelled the progress of the case and also inspired those around her. At the same time, Anni can also take into account the emotions and feelings of those around her, with love, depth, and warmth. She looks like a successful woman in my ideal, and I think this is the unique charm of prosecutors!

Looking at the news: What are the differences between the role of prosecutor and the roles you have played in the past?

Dilraba: The professional nature of a prosecutor has put a lot of pressure on me. Prosecutors have a lot of legal related lines and unique language rhythms during the trial and prosecution process, which are new challenges for me. But without this experience, I might have been lost in my comfort zone. Thank you for this role, which has honed my expression and logical abilities. I have also learned a lot of legal knowledge, experienced different lives, and found some new directions.

Looking at the news: What homework have you done to perform well in this professional themed drama?

Dilraba: I took this script because of longing and curiosity, and I didn't have much knowledge about the profession of prosecutor. But when I truly step into the role, a sense of power and responsibility arises, and I really want to use all my strength to play her well and not let down the role. The prosecutor's workplace is actually quite broad, facing multiple characters, and also reviewing evidence, supplementing investigations, and appearing in court for prosecution. During filming, I will discuss with the director what should be presented in different work environments.

Looking at the news: Which scene in the drama left the deepest impression and was filmed the hardest?

Dilraba: There are many scenes of prosecutors in the interrogation room in the play. The interrogated suspect is saying the same thing every day, and will not tell you more clues. Instead, you have to talk to him repeatedly every day, trying to open his speech box, or catch the loopholes in his speech skills. This language logic and emotional change is difficult to handle.

I am an impatient person myself, but in the drama, Anni is very patient and has very professional interrogation skills. She always analyzes the potential information in the suspect's language from a calm and objective perspective. So I will perform in a progressive manner based on the development of the script content, seize the timing and rhythm of the plot, and bring the audience a more realistic feeling in the details portrayal.

There was a scene where the suspect Li Quan was interrogated about their organization of the mastermind behind the scenes. I found the corresponding rhythm and stress by pondering the logic and reasons behind each sentence that An Ni wanted to say. For example, when Li Quan was approaching panic, I designed a pause and blank space for An Ni. Sometimes, this blank space and invisible pressure can actually break the suspect's psychological defense line.

Looking at the news: How did it feel to play with Tong Dawei? How to evaluate the opposing scenes between two people?

Dilraba: Da Wei Ge is my senior brother. When I was in college before, he came to our school to share. I missed out on filming, and unfortunately, I finally made up for it this time. I remember the first scene on set with Dawei, where I had to give him a face shake. I was very nervous at the time and could feel my face twitching slightly during the performance. But Da Wei Ge gave me a lot of help, gave me positive feedback, and like a teacher, helped me sort out the details. We also talked about our creative thoughts together on set. When playing opposite roles, we will give them many fresh reactions based on the different emotions of the characters. I can experience his professionalism firsthand and then demand strict standards from myself.

What values do you hope to convey to the audience by appearing in this drama? Are there any cases that have deeply touched you?

Dilraba: The plot of the cases in the drama is intertwined, showcasing many new cases of telecommunications fraud and online loans. This is what is happening around us. With the rapid development of the internet, information is mixed, and a little carelessness can lead to being "tricked". We have restored the impact and consequences of relevant events in the drama, making each story more visually impactful and allowing the audience to have a greater sense of empathy when watching the show. Some cases in the drama, and even the protagonists of the events, are the people around us. I hope to sound the alarm for all the friends, parents, relatives, uncles and aunts who are watching the drama, and convey to everyone how to prevent online fraud, how to establish correct online values, and understand the legal knowledge in the new online environment.

Watching news: When you were a child, you studied music and dance, but later got into acting and became an actor. Looking back, how do you view the profession of an actor? What unique life experiences did it bring you? What other roles do you want to challenge in the future?

Dilraba: Different stages of growth have enriched me. Being an actor is a profession that I love, and I still have a long way to go. I need to constantly learn, and I always treat every character with awe. Each character is also a new life experience, constantly improving and enriching myself. There are many characters I want to try, because the more different the characters are, the greater the performance space. I will be very excited and constantly brainstorm different ways of performing, breaking through myself.

Looking at the news: It is said that at thirty, what kind of expectations do you have for yourself in the future? What do you like to do when not filming?

Dilraba: I used to have many wild ideas, but now I want to face any character without any regrets and do my best to achieve 100%. As for life, I hope to balance the pace of work and life well, experience life more, and enrich myself. When I have free time, I like to take a walk alone, explore shops, eat delicious food, and enjoy every moment.
