Teachers and students of the Shangyin Shengge Department sing ethnic opera with a hundred year history

Chinese ethnic opera, as an opera style that draws inspiration from traditional Chinese opera, was brewed in the 1930s and formed in the 1940s and 1950s. After the birth of the national operas "Hongxia", "Honghu Red Guards", "Red Coral", and "Jiang Jie", Chinese opera gradually developed into opera styles with Chinese characteristics.

A hundred people from Shanghai Opera House sing the symphonic epic "Long March Suite Song"

In 1965, on the occasion of commemorating the 30th anniversary of the victory of the Red Army's Long March, General Xiao Hua, who had participated in the Long March, spent six months completing 12 vivid and sincere works. Composers Chen Geng, Sheng Mao, Tang Ke, and Yu Qiu selected 10 of them to compose a set of songs, depicting 10 interlocking scenes of combat life, namely "Farewell", "Breaking through the Blockade Line", "Zunyi Conference Shining with Glory", "Four Crossing of the Red River and Emerging with Strange Soldiers", "Flying over the Dadu River", "Crossing Snowy Mountains and Grasslands", "Arriving at Wuqi Town", "Zhu Jie", "Bao Xi", and "Grand Master". They cleverly integrated the folk tunes of various regions with the traditional songs of the Red Army, and compiled a large-scale vocal suite called "Long March Set Song" with a distinct theme, rich content, novel form, and unique style.
