This year, the TV drama "The Road to Life" has been popular, partially based on the novel "Life" by Lu Yao, and filmed in Qingjian County, Yulin City, Lu Yao's hometown, which has also sparked a strong interest in Lu Yao's life among the audience. The Xi'an Theatre recently launched its fourth national tour of "Lu Yao", which will be held from July 1st to 2nd at the Lingang Performing Arts Center in Pudong New Area, and from July 8th to 9th at the Meiqi Grand Theater.
The play "Luyao" has been on three national tours since December 2020, with over 100 performances in 35 cities and attracting more than 100000 viewers. In November 2021, "Lu Yao" was invited to participate in the "Performing Arts World Art Gathering in Shanghai" stage art exhibition season hosted by the Shanghai International Art Festival Center in China, and received praise from Shanghai audiences. In November 2022, "Lu Yao" won the "Five One Project" Outstanding Work Award, and this is the first time the drama has visited Shanghai for performance since winning the award.
The play "Lu Yao" was written by Tang Dong and directed by Fu Yongfan. It is another masterpiece released by Xi'an Theatre after "Liu Qing". This drama depicts the last six years of Lu Yao's life, telling the story of his journey from publishing the first installment of "The Ordinary World" to winning the Mao Dun Literature Award, establishing his literary status, and finally passing away.
The play puts Lu Yao in the context of a rapidly changing society, shaping a typical character who is in complex social relationships, experiencing changes and pains of the times. "This is life. Since you have chosen a difficult path, you must abandon many beauties in the world." Lu Yao interweaves Lu Yao's creative realm with his life realm, reflects literary and dramatic characters, and integrates his fate with the changes of the times.
From the stunning novella "A Shocking Scene" to the nationwide sensation of the novella "Life", to the award-winning Mao Dun Literature Award for the novel "The Ordinary World", Lu Yao has always paid attention to ordinary people. Chen Zhongshi wrote a eulogy for Lu Yao, "He did not remain silent or contemptuous of groaning. Instead, he squeezed among his contemporaries and looked up at them, revealing to society and the world the spiritual expectations of the young men and women on this ancient land. As a result, he received countless cheers and trust from them. He walked into their hearts."
The play "Lu Yao" is solemn, plain, and simple, restoring the people's writer Lu Yao who wrote in the rapids of the times and daily life. At the end of the play, Lu Yao's image of pulling fibers and moving against the current in the wind and snow inspires countless viewers. The entire stage has an oil painting like texture: the Yellow River tracker works hard by the mother river, the smoke fills the air after the sound of gunfire on the palm, the man who eats steel and bites iron holds a pneumatic drill, and the old ox who cultivates the land works hard to move forward, all of which are metaphors of the times and life. In the drama, the storytelling of Shaanbei, such as "Blowing the Strong Wind," "People Think of People," and "Don't Worry about Poverty, Don't Praise Wealth," are sung three times to enhance the sense of desolation in life.
