"Danqing Gathering Chen Qishu Qianhua - Chen Qi Art Exhibition" Appears at the Shanghai Art Museum Artists | Works | Exhibition
The Shanghai Chenqi Cultural and Art Foundation recently held its establishment ceremony at the Shanghai Haipai Art Museum. The "Danqing Gathering Chenqi Trees and Flowers - Chenqi Art Exhibition" and the "National Famous Artists Invitation and Donation Exhibition" also kicked off. The exhibition showcased more than 600 works by artist Chen Qi from different periods, including Chinese painting, ink painting, calligraphy, porcelain painting creations, as well as nearly 200 donated works by more than 160 well-known artists from the China Artists Association and various provincial and municipal artist associations. The exhibition lasted for 22 days.
Chen Qi is currently the Vice Chairman of Shanghai Artists Association, Director of China Artists Association, Director of China Painting Society, Member of Shanghai Federation of Literary and Art Circles, Artist of Shanghai Chinese Painting Academy, Director of the Art Committee of China International Import Expo, Convener of the Art Committee of Shanghai CPPCC Painting and Calligraphy Academy, and Director of the Art Committee of Shanghai Jiushi Bund Art Museum. This exhibition provides a comprehensive inventory of Chen Qi's artistic creations, with diverse forms and rich content. In addition, Chen Qi carefully selected more than 1200 art pieces and published a personal collection of works titled "Danqing Gathering Chen Qi Trees in a Thousand Flowers" by Shanghai Calligraphy and Painting Publishing House. This collection includes four volumes: a collection of painting works titled "The Way of Danqing", a collection of sketching works titled "Ink Painting Journey", a collection of calligraphy works titled "Shuhai Wenxin", and a collection of porcelain works titled "Blue and White Porcelain Rhyme".
Chen Qi introduced that the art of painting is his lifelong pursuit of art. Ink and wash travel is the source of life in artistic creation. Calligraphy creation and training are due to the same roots and origins of calligraphy and painting. Porcelain painting creation is a cross-border and extension of artistic creation, and an inseparable part of his artistic development process. Mao Shi'an, former vice chairman of the China Literary Critics Association, believes that from Chen Qi's paintings, one can occasionally feel the tenderness in his eyes as he writes. The swimming fish swimming in the water, the birds chirping in the forest, the cats with bright eyes, groups of tadpoles wriggling happily between the water surface and lotus leaves, as well as the bulging eyes and a chaotic green frog, are all innocent and lovely. "Vivid charm is not only the vivid expression of the painting object on the screen, but also the passionate and vivid movement of the painter's inner life behind it. It is his admiration for nature and a beautiful life."
It is understood that the newly established Chen Qi Cultural and Art Foundation will deepen its development in cultural public welfare undertakings such as inheriting Shanghai style art, cultivating excellent young and middle-aged artists, assisting relevant art groups, and conducting creative exchanges between artists in Shanghai. When discussing the establishment of the Chen Qi Cultural and Art Foundation, Chen Qi expressed that he had a fierce ideological struggle at the beginning. Why did he establish a foundation and what was the purpose of establishing a foundation? These two questions troubled him and his family, but later his thoughts gradually became clear. He realized that artists must have a broad mind, a sense of responsibility for the times, and a global perspective. They must always take the innovative development of the New Shanghai style painting art as their own responsibility. "Only in this way can personal artistic achievements be closely linked with the development of the times and the country, and can they step out of the 'small self' and achieve the 'big self', until they become 'self free'."
This exhibition is jointly organized by the Shanghai Artists Association, the People's Government of Pujiang County, Zhejiang Province, the Shanghai Art Museum, and the Shanghai Chenqi Cultural and Art Foundation. The organizer will donate the collection of works to libraries in various provinces, cities, and art schools throughout the country through public welfare donations during the exhibition period.
