The 19th Hachaturian International Music Competition was held in the Armenian capital Yerevan from June 6th to 13th, and Chinese pianist Kong Xiangdong was invited to serve as a judge for the competition. The judges include Sergey Sarajyan, Pavel Gililov, Vag Papian, Stephane Lemelin, and Oxana Yablonskaya.
The Hachaturian International Music Competition was founded on June 6, 2003, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of Armenian composer Aram Hachaturian, who is a world-renowned classical music giant of the 20th century. The Hachaturian International Music Competition has been held annually since 2003, with the four music disciplines of cello, piano, violin, and conductor taking turns each year. Currently, it is a member of the World Federation of International Music Competitions.
This year's Haqiaturang International Music Competition is specifically aimed at the piano discipline and aims to assist young pianists in their development. The first place winner in the competition will receive a prize of $10000, the second place winner will receive $5000, and the third place winner will receive $3000. In the final round of the competition, each contestant will bring two piano concertos to the performance of the Armenian National Symphony Orchestra, one of which is a required piece by Hachaturian's piano concerto.
The Chinese classical music channel Amadeus.tv and Today Music have been exclusively authorized to broadcast the competition in China.
