During his lifetime, Feng Chaoran not only did not hold personal art exhibitions, but also did not hold teacher-student exhibitions with his students. Therefore, the "Caotang Chuandeng - Feng Chaoran's Painting Art and Inheritance Special Exhibition" was the first time since the founding of the People's Republic of China that Feng Chaoran's works were presented as a personal thematic art exhibition. The exhibition collected more than 70 sets of works, among which many of Feng Chaoran's works and literature were first made public. The Lu Yanshao Art Institute will also replace some of its works during the exhibition, presenting more exciting works to the audience.
This exhibition is divided into two parts. The first part is the literature display area, which includes some textual and documentary displays on the background of the Shanghai style, personal experiences, and teacher-student interactions. The second is the exhibition area, which displays a set of 53 works by Feng Chaoran and a set of 24 works by his disciples. The Lu Yanshao Art Academy has selected representative works from 9 disciples, including Lu Yanshao, Zheng Mukang, Zhang Guinian, Wu Yifeng, Chen Xiaocui, Tang Yifang, Feng Rangxian, Sun Qionghua, and Tang Guanyu, for exhibition. Although the 9 artists are all disciples of the "Feng Gate", their works have different appearances, which can reflect the artistic concepts and style choices of different individuals inherited by art masters of the same origin and sect.
