The Yangtze River Delta region has different dialects and cultural customs, mainly composed of the Jianghuai and Wuyue ethnic groups. The complex geographical environment, diverse forms of labor, and different cultural customs have nurtured the diversity of music in the Yangtze River Delta region. In the creative process of "Impressions of the Yangtze River Delta", Gao Xiang drew inspiration from a large number of classic Western double piano works and combined them with the characteristics of contemporary popular music, making the music not only adhere to tradition but also conform to modern aesthetic taste.
Pianists Fang Min and Qian Ruiyan also performed Tchaikovsky's "Dance of Flowers", which is a famous waltz in the dance drama "The Nutcracker". Adapted from the orchestral version to a dual piano version, "Dance of Flowers" uses the rich and ever-changing sound of the piano to express the theme of brass like songs, as well as the lively and elegant woodwind and strings. The dual pianos are like paintbrushes in a palette, weaving a dancing picture into the music. In addition, the two performers also performed Ravel's "Great Round Dance" and the Chinese piece "Butterfly Lovers", blending Chinese and Western elements.
