In order to actively leverage the united and leading role and organizational advantages of the Federation of Literary and Art Circles in the work of "cultural and artistic innovation", explore the establishment of a work model that combines local management and industry guidance, and create more effective carriers for connecting and serving "cultural and artistic innovation", starting from 2022, the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles has launched the construction of practical bases in the "cultural and artistic innovation" agglomeration area, and has successively released two batches of 12 practical base lists. The Shangsheng Xinsuo Cultural and Creative Park in Changning District is the first unit on the list in Shanghai.
On June 15th, the signing and unveiling ceremony of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles' "Literary and Art Two New" Cluster Practice Base was held at Shangsheng Xinsuo. Zhu Di, a member of the Party Group, Vice Chairman, and Secretary of the Secretariat of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, Zhang Wei, Secretary and Mayor of Changning District, Xia Yujing, Secretary of the Party Group and Full time Vice Chairman of the Shanghai Federation of Literary and Art Circles, and Qiu Bin, the person in charge of urban renewal business at Shanghai Vanke, jointly unveiled the plaque for the base. The Domestic Liaison Department of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles and the Changning District Federation of Literary and Art Circles have signed a memorandum of cooperation on the Shangsheng Xinsuo Practice Base in the "Literary and Art Two New" Cluster Area of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles.
The history of Shangsheng Xinsuo can be traced back to the 1920s and 1930s. It originally belonged to the Columbia Circle developed by Puyi Real Estate, and the three existing historical buildings in the park - the Columbia Country Club, Navy Club and its affiliated swimming pool, and Sunko Villa - were built at that time. At present, the industrial buildings scattered in the park are designed and constructed by the Shanghai Institute of Biological Products, which worked and produced here in the 1950s.
Since 2016, after the renovation and operation of Shanghai Vanke, the area has become a 24-hour public cultural district, where rich and diverse cultural activities such as exhibitions, dramas, concerts, lectures, comedies, etc. are held throughout the year in various spaces of the park. The unique artistic temperament formed by artistic activities and the atmosphere of old buildings has made Shangsheng Xinsuo one of the benchmark cases for urban renewal in Shanghai. After the establishment of the "Art Circle" cultural and artistic integration base in the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, Shangsheng · Xinsuo will focus on culture, art, fashion, and new media. Adhering to the construction concept of "respecting historical context, preserving urban memory, diverse sharing and symbiosis, creating public spaces, and stimulating urban vitality," Shangsheng · Xinsuo will actively create a "Art Circle" cultural and artistic circle that integrates multiple cultures, attract more "Art and Art Newcomers" to settle in, continue to build characteristic projects and activity brands, and use projects to drive the sustainable and healthy development of the base.
