On September 2nd, Beijing Opera performer Shang Changrong and his students Yang Donghu and Chen Zhipeng made an appearance at the Lingang Performing Arts Center in Pudong New Area, singing the excerpt from "The Grand Ceremony of Zhenguan", "Jointly Creating a Prosperous Era", and the audience applauded. As the beginning of the series of performances of "China-Chic September Lingang Opera Style", celebrities from the major troupes of Shanghai Opera Art Center gathered for a performance on the 2nd day, which made the audience shout for joy.
Shang Changrong said, "Beijing Kunming Shanghai Yuehuai Opera and Pingtan Opera are traditional and popular among many young people. How to make more people like and actively inherit and disseminate traditional culture is a topic that opera practitioners have been promoting over the years. Lingang, which is under full construction, is a 'city for young people'. Shanghai's urban construction has always attached importance to cultural support. When the needs of both meet, we are duty bound to come here happily."
Shang Changrong leads students to make an appearance
On September 2nd, Shang Changrong, Zhang Jingxian, Qian Sijian, Fang Yafen, Liang Weiping, Gao Bowen, and outstanding young actors gathered together, showcasing the essence and charm of traditional Chinese opera in various genres. The well-known classic singing segments of Peking Opera such as "Drunken Concubine", "Picking a Pulley", Kun Opera such as "Peony Pavilion", Yue Opera such as "The Story of the Western Chamber", and Huai Opera such as "The Legend of the White Snake", as well as the selected segments of Shanghai Opera such as "The Red Lantern", "Deng Shichang", and Huai Opera such as "The Great Flood", and the Pingtan full of Jiangnan charm such as "Beautiful Flowers and Full Moon" and "The Beautiful Scenery of Jiangnan", lead the audience to explore the culture of traditional Chinese opera in all aspects. The joint singing of "Flowing Light and Splendor" by Yue Opera genres unfolds like a long scroll, showcasing more than ten different styles of Yue Opera. The Huai song "Slow Voice" uses the Huai opera voice to sing popular songs, achieving a fashionable expression of traditional Chinese opera.

After the performance, the "China-Chic September Lingang Opera Style" will open six special theater groups for three consecutive weekends, namely, the Kun Opera "The Lion's Roar", the Yue Opera "Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai", the Beijing Opera "The Phoenix Returns to its Nest", the Shanghai Opera "The Red Light", the Huai Opera "The Golden Dragon and the Ephemera" and the Pingtan Opera "Gao Bowen Talks about Flowers".
"These are all representative plays of various theaters, and when we contacted the Theatre Art Center, they expressed their intention to send out a super strong lineup." Shi Yuanyuan, the General Manager of Lingang Performing Arts Center, said that as the first comprehensive theater with over 800 seats in the Lingang area, the Performing Arts Center located on the banks of Dishui Lake was officially opened in March. "We hope to closely follow up with hardware upgrades through culture in the construction process of Lingang New City, which is also the experience that Shanghai has formed as an international cultural metropolis for a long time. The new development zone, with well-equipped cultural functions and coverage of public services, can greatly enhance the happiness and sense of achievement of citizens."

The Lingang Performing Arts Center is not a traditional single theater form, but is located within the Lingang Center, which resembles a spreading egret. "Science and art are the twin engines of human civilization progress." Shi Yuanyuan revealed that the series of performances of "China-Chic September Lingang Opera Style" was just the beginning. Lingang Performing Arts Center is planning more abundant content.
