"We will create a special training camp, recommending eight to ten young actors to the theater troupe every year, providing a platform for their further education. We will invite renowned artists from Beijing, Kunming, Vietnam, Shanghai, and Huai to guide them on details such as body shape, so that young people's basic skills are more refined." said Shu Yue, the artistic director of Tianhao Qinyue Shanghai Opera Troupe. On the afternoon of July 28th, the establishment ceremony of Shanghai Tianhao Qinyue Shanghai Opera Troupe and the formation of a strategic cooperation alliance with Shanghai Shanghai Opera House were held at the Yangtze River Theater. This private theater troupe will launch a variety of performances through comprehensive cooperation with Shanghai Shanghai Opera Theatre, committed to protecting and inheriting Shanghai Opera, a Shanghai intangible cultural heritage, and spreading the voice of Shanghai.
The Tianhao Qinyue Shanghai Opera Troupe is led by Zhang Liuqin and Shu Yue as the artistic director. In order to better promote the inheritance and development of Shanghai opera culture in the new era, and comprehensively enhance the level of Shanghai opera, Shanghai Shanghai Opera House and Tianhao Qinyue Shanghai Opera Troupe have reached a strategic alliance cooperation. The Shanghai Opera House will leverage its own advantages to provide space for the Shanghai opera industry to carry out activities to enhance and popularize the art of Shanghai opera. It will organize on-site performance seasons, themed performances, as well as various public welfare activities such as Shanghai opera art lectures and performances benefiting the people, to jointly cultivate excellent successors of Shanghai opera.
Zhang Liuqin, the head of the Tianhao Qinyue Shanghai Opera Troupe, said, "Shanghai Opera is a treasure of the 'Shanghai style culture'. I have loved listening to, watching, and singing Shanghai Opera since I was young. I have watched Shanghai Opera move from rural fields to urban stages, with a strong sense of Shanghai Opera complex in my heart. Wu Wei, Secretary of the Party Branch of Shanghai Opera House, expressed his pleasure at seeing new forces added to the Shanghai opera industry. Shanghai Shanghai Theatre will continue to play the role of the main force of municipal theaters, further deepen cooperation with private theaters, open up resources to sister theaters in the Shanghai theater industry, replicate and promote successful cooperation cases, focus on creating themed performances, exploring brand projects, expanding performance space, and promoting talent growth, and leverage the collaborative advantages of "1+N" to achieve co promotion of plays in creation, joint training of talents, and project cooperation in performance.
Gu Haohao, Chairman of Shanghai Dramatists Association, Party Secretary and President of Shanghai Opera Art Center, and Wei Zhi, General Convener of Shanghai Performance Industry Association, attended the establishment ceremony. Kunqu opera performer Yue Meiti, Vice Chairman of the Chinese Drama Association Liu Ping, Shanghai opera performer Shen Renwei, and Zhang Liuqin jointly unveiled the plaque for the Tianhao Qinyue Shanghai Opera Troupe. At the ceremony, actors from the Youth Troupe of Shanghai Opera House performed a joint performance of the ten major genres of "Da Chu Deng", while Shanghai Opera actors Zhu Jian and Ji Yanping sang excerpts from "Da Lei Yu".
Shu Yue said that the establishment of the troupe to train a new generation of Shanghai Opera people, in addition to strengthening basic skills, also needs to expand network publicity, shooting short videos to attract young audiences, the troupe will break through the past performance mode, into a new space for performing arts
This year coincides with the centenary of the birthdays of Ding Shie, Yang Feifei, and Wang Pansheng, three senior figures in the Shanghai opera industry. The first activity of the Tianhao Qinyue Shanghai Opera Troupe after its establishment was to jointly hold a commemorative performance with the Shanghai Shanghai Theatre and the Shanghai Institute of Visual Arts. The commemorative performance is planned to be held for three consecutive days from October 13th to 15th this year at the Wanping Theater, with a daily commemorative performance by senior artists. Several generations of well-known actors in the Shanghai opera industry will participate, including Sun Xuchun, Hua Wen, Chen Suping and other famous figures, as well as older generation actors such as Shen Renwei, Xu Botao, Wang Shanmei and other middle-aged actors such as Zhu Jian, Cheng Zhen, Ji Yanping, and Shu Yue. They will recreate classic plays and tracks from predecessors such as Ding Shi'e, Yang Feifei, and Wang Pansheng, and perform multiple well-known excerpts with symphonic music. The stage design and lighting for the commemorative performance are undertaken by Shanghai Institute of Visual Arts, as well as a group of celebrities and well-known hosts from the opera and film industries. Through multi-party collaboration and cross-border cooperation, we aim to innovate while inheriting the traditions of Shanghai opera.
