Further utilizing the rich red cultural and artistic resources in Shanghai, and continuously innovating the forms and carriers of learning and education, on the evening of June 29th, the demonstration class of the acrobatic drama "Battle of Shanghai", titled "Praising the New Era and Advancing a New Journey," was held at the Shanghai Cultural Square. The Party class welcomed a special guest - the son of martyr Hu Wenjie, the heroic commander of the heroic regiment who sacrificed his life in the Battle of Liberation of Shanghai, and Hu Jijun, the former director of a certain department of the General Staff Department of the People's Liberation Army of China and the former vice president of the Beijing New Fourth Army Research Association.
A precious historical image of the Battle of Liberation of Shanghai kicked off this demonstration class on literary and artistic party education. In the live storytelling section, the Shanghai Acrobatic Troupe and the Party Committee of Shanghai Circus City invited 74 year old Hu Jijun to tell about his father Hu Wenjie's heroic deeds. Despite undergoing surgery recently, Hu Jijun gladly accepted the invitation and rushed from Beijing to Shanghai on the eve of July 1st to attend this special party class.
Hu Wenjie was the commander of the 259th Regiment of the 87th Division of the 29th Army of the Third Field Army of the People's Liberation Army of China. He died on May 15, 1949 in the Battle of Yuepu in the Liberation of Shanghai. Hu Jijun was born 22 days after his father's sacrifice.
Hu Wenjie was only 33 years old when he sacrificed himself. He was the highest ranking commander among the revolutionary martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the Battle of Shanghai in our army. As a posthumous son, Hu Jijun never met his father, but his father's fame, feats, and story are deeply embedded in his heart.
"I have heard many stories about my father from my mother since I was young. My mother's name is Tang Qu, and she is also a revolutionary soldier. She joined the New Fourth Army in 1941 and is still alive. She is 103 years old this year. On April 17, 1949, her father was appointed as the commander of the regiment, and before the Battle of Crossing the Yangtze River began, he led the troops to the bank of the Yangtze River for training. At that time, my mother was pregnant with me and preparing for the war. My father wrote a home letter to his mother who was about to give birth, which was also his last letter before his death."
Hu Jijun shares his father's family letter with the live audience. Hu Wenjie wrote in the letter, "Comrade Tangqu, it has been almost two weeks since we parted ways. Have you been doing well lately?" Zhou Pingxin said that Comrade Cheng Tiejun sacrificed himself, which was regrettable. Of course, it is honorable to have shed blood for the revolution and been loyal to the cause of the Chinese people's liberation... I have an old oilcloth that I am bringing to you, which I'm afraid you will need to have a child. After you receive this letter, how are you doing? Please write to me and I miss it very much. This short letter conveys Hu Wenjie's concern and concern for his wife who is about to give birth, his anticipation and joy for his unborn child, and his unwavering loyalty to the revolutionary cause and his dedication to the cause of the people's liberation. A firm determination to sacrifice one's life.
"My father had two characteristics in war: one was to lead by example, charge ahead, and set an example and benchmark with a pioneering attitude that was not afraid of sacrifice; the other was to command ahead, making it easier to understand the enemy situation, formulate combat plans, implement correct commands, and win the battle. If the command post was not set up so far ahead, perhaps he would not sacrifice." At the age of 19, Hu Jijun joined the army. "My father and I are both father and son, comrades in arms, and we are also Communist Party members. After growing up as a soldier, I understood my father's choices from a combat perspective. In the Battle of Shanghai, only by understanding the enemy situation can we seize the opportunity in time. Therefore, he often led." In the Battle of Liberation of Shanghai, a total of 7785 martyrs sacrificed themselves, including PLA commanders, underground Communist Party members, democratic progressives, workers, and students. They collapsed one after another in the dark night before dawn, exchanging their youth and passion for the liberation of Shanghai and welcoming the birth of the new China. In the scene display section, actors from the Shanghai Acrobatic Troupe built a golden monument with passionate voiceovers and physical performances, paying tribute to the predecessors who bravely fought for the cause of liberation.
The third part of the party class is the performance of the acrobatic drama "Battle of Shanghai". Liang Hongjun, the head of the Shanghai Acrobatic Troupe, stated that this is the first time that "Battle of Shanghai" has met with the audience in a theater since winning the "Five One Project" Excellent Work Award from the Central Propaganda Department at the end of last year. Party organizations at all levels have come to make appointments for learning, and many party members have expressed that this form of thematic education and learning is novel and vivid.
