Wang Yi Meets with Argentine Foreign Minister Mondino
On September 24, 2024 local time, Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister, met with Argentine Foreign Minister Mondino during the UN General Assembly in New York. Argentine Presidential Secretary-General Karina and Economy Minister Caputo also attended.
Wang Yi said that China has always attached great importance to China-Argentina relations and maintained continuity and stability in its policies toward Argentina. It is gratifying to see that developing relations with China has become a social consensus beyond party lines in Argentina. The two sides should continue to place China-Argentina relations at an important position in each other's foreign policies, constantly deepen political mutual trust, focus on the strategic and comprehensive nature of bilateral relations, and make them more resilient and dynamic. This is the common expectation of the two peoples and is in line with the fundamental and long-term interests of both sides. The economies of China and Argentina are highly complementary, and the two countries have a solid foundation for practical cooperation. China is willing to continue to be a good friend of Argentina and a good partner in its development process, expand cooperation in various fields, and share development opportunities. The two sides should support each other on issues involving each other's core interests and major concerns. It is hoped that Argentina will firmly abide by its commitments, adhere to the one-China principle, and resolutely oppose "Taiwan independence". China is willing to work with Latin American and Caribbean countries including Argentina to promote the construction of the China-Latin America Forum and deepen China-Latin America relations.
Mondino said that Argentina and China have a long history of friendship, and promoting the development of Argentina-China relations is the common goal of the two countries. Argentina has changed its car, embarked on a new road, and has a new driver, and is full of confidence in its development prospects. China is Argentina's second largest export destination. Argentina attaches great importance to the Chinese market and welcomes Chinese companies to invest and start businesses in Argentina. It hopes to continuously expand economic and trade cooperation between the two countries and bring more benefits to the Argentine people. Argentina is willing to actively participate in Latin American-China cooperation, which is conducive to greater development of the CELAC countries.
