Shanghai Science Hall Lawn Concert: A Dialogue between Art and Science
On the evening of September 24, the "Harmonious Symphony, Celebrating the National Day" lawn concert was held at the Shanghai Science Hall to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of New China. It also demonstrated the enterprising attitude of scientific and technological workers to advance with the motherland and keep pace with the times.
Conductor Zhang Chengjie led the Shanghai Opera House Symphony Orchestra, and joined Shanghai opera performing artist Mao Shanyu, tenor singer Shi Yiji and other artists on stage. Six academicians of the two academies, including Zhang Jie, Wang Enduo, Li Jie, Jin Yaqiu, Zhao Zhentang, Mu Mu, and many scientific and technological workers came to the scene, and a dialogue between art and science took place.
At the beginning of the concert, the Shanghai Opera House Symphony Orchestra performed the first symphony overture "Passionate Years" by composer Guan Xia. Afterwards, the string ensemble "Good Night" created a strong festive atmosphere. Yue Opera actor Han Tingting sang "I Love You, China" with a unique charm; Shi Yijie performed two classics "My Sun" and "No One Sleeps Tonight", and her superb skills won the applause of the audience; Mao Shanyu performed "Daughter of Dunhuang" and told a touching story with Shanghai Opera singing.
Famous Chinese and foreign songs such as "Song of the Yangtze River", "Dance of the Yao Nationality", "Hunting Polka", and "Slavic Dance" were performed one by one. Wang Yong, Dean of the School of Music of Shanghai University, gave the audience an in-depth and easy-to-understand introduction. The concert also specially invited the chorus of the Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry of the Chinese Academy of Sciences to perform "We Are All Dreamers". Finally, the concert ended with a chorus of "Without the Communist Party, there would be no New China".

The concert was jointly organized by Shanghai Municipal Human Resources Bureau, Shanghai Municipal Science and Technology Commission, Shanghai Branch of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Shanghai Association for Science and Technology. Zhang Jie, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and chairman of the Shanghai Association for Science and Technology, encouraged the city's scientific and technological workers to continue to innovate, rise to the challenge, shoulder the responsibility given by the times, and work together to build Shanghai into an international science and technology innovation center as soon as possible.
