Apple customer service responded, "App Store software involves pornography"
On September 25, some netizens discovered that an app called "Diamond**" in the Apple App Store was pornographic. Subsequently, the topic of "Apple Store apps involved pornography" became a hot search, sparking heated discussions among netizens.
China News Service found that at around 15:00 on the 25th, the software could still be downloaded normally, and the content displayed in the software was consistent with what netizens said. At around 16:00, the software could no longer be searched in the Apple App Store.
China News Service contacted Apple customer service as a consumer on the afternoon of the 25th to inquire about the situation. A customer service representative said that if the app cannot be found in the Apple App Store, it must have been removed from the shelves. "Maybe some users have reported it to Apple, and Apple will do something about it."
How did this kind of software pass the review of the Apple App Store and be put on the shelves? Another official Apple customer service representative told China Business Network that Apple will conduct an official inspection when the software is put on the shelves, but some illegal software "usually has some pornographic content after being put on the shelves. At this time, users need to give us feedback so that we can verify and handle it later."
The customer service representative added that this type of software is often disguised as tool, chat, or video software when it is put on the shelves in order to avoid Apple’s review. After being put on the shelves, it is “transformed” into illegal content.
"Every time the Apple App Store puts software on the shelves, we will check it in the background to ensure the availability of the software. We definitely do not allow pornographic or other illegal content to be put on the shelves. But if they give us a normal software installation package and add some things after putting it on the shelves, and the software is not updated, we may not be able to monitor it unless the software is updated proactively." The customer service representative said.
Regarding whether such software will be re-listed in a new look, the customer service representative said that Apple will not allow software containing pornographic content to be re-listed. However, other software, such as gaming software, which has been reported before and has been thoroughly rectified and passed Apple's official inspection, may be re-listed.
